Your little mover is going to love this fun filled class! Using our creative moment curriculum, dancers will learn the fundamentals of these essential dance styles! Dancers will develop fine motor skills, musical awareness, and listening skills through engaging activities. Students should arrive in their tap shoes and the Instructors will help with the shoe change during class. This is an independent dance class with parents able to witness their child’s growth during Parent Observation Weeks and our end of season Showcase.

Originating from the streets of the South Bronx in NYC, Hip Hop is all about creativity, individuality, and finding your unique groove! With a variety of styles and moves that are constantly evolving, this genre blends Old School techniques with fresh, modern trends brought to life by innovative dancers. A high-energy and engaging experience, hip hop combines elements of jazz-funk, breakdancing, and street dance. Classes often include level changes, freezes, isolations, and dynamic across-the-floor combinations. As hip hop continues to grow in popularity, it invites dancers from all backgrounds to explore its vibrant, ever-changing culture.
Tap dance is deeply connected to African American history and showcases its own distinct techniques and movements. This dynamic and rhythmic style of dance is as captivating to listen to as it is to watch. Through a blend of intricate footwork and rhythmic skills, tap dancers create mesmerizing sounds and patterns. Students develop both their mind and body coordination as they master foundational steps and more complex combinations. Tap fosters focus by encouraging dancers to count beats and tune into rhythms. From shuffles and flaps to spanks, this art form builds agility while exploring a range of styles, patterns, and tempos.
Acro Dance blends dance technique with precise acrobatic elements, creating a dynamic and captivating style. This unique fusion adds acrobatic moves to various dance genres, focusing on fluidity, control, and elegance. From forward rolls to cartwheels to aerial work, we use a progressive curriculum to achieve goals. Unlike gymnastics, Acro Dance emphasizes softer, more balanced movements, with an emphasis on extension and poise. Dancers will perform strength and flexibility exercises, utilize drills to develop proper technique, and learn safe acro skills to blend them with their current dance vocabulary. Instructors work with each student at their own individual level during class. Showcase attendance is mandatory due to the partner work in the dances.
Pointe is a specialized discipline that requires strength, technique, and dedication. In Pointe 3, students begin their journey to dancing on pointe, focusing on building the foundational skills needed for this art form. Pointe 4 helps dancers refine their technique and further develop the strength necessary for more advanced work. Mastering pointe demands proper alignment, turnout from the hips, strong ankles, pointed feet, and excellent balance.
Classes include targeted exercises at the barre and in the center to enhance the strength of the calf muscles, ankles, and arches while honing control and balance. Each student’s readiness for pointe is evaluated individually, and teacher approval is required before advancing to pointe work. Once approved, students will be guided to a professional fitting for pointe shoes.
